Yay, it’s International Women’s Day! Under United Nations’ patronage and 105 years after
its inception, the theme is “Planet 50-50 by 2030”.
We live in a free
nation where the many systems in our society are relentlessly prodded to make
changes in support of female empowerment. We’re witnesses to progress being
made on a relatively smaller scale, though; since when you look at the staggering
gender-comparison statistics on a global scale, politically, socially and
economically, we have a ways to go. This article is a brief eye-opener about
the event’s history, where women are today and what the future holds.
