WOMEN ARE MISSING IN THE CAUCUS

Women comprise half of PM Trudeau’s cabinet members but are barely represented in the more crucial House of Commons committees. While our PM is making moves on this, it seems the best chance for more diversity in the caucus – and beyond- is more women in leadership roles.

In comparison to male MPs, we’d like some harder evidence that women are “more pragmatic and work harder”, as NDP deputy Irene Mathyssen implies. But other than qualifications, she’s right: our drawing card as women is that we can bring a different perspective to the table, and this is the perfect ‘pro’ in support of gender diversity.
