Companies with Female Leadership Deliver Higher RoE



-       According to global data provider MSCI firms with “strong female leadership” delivered an average RoE of 10.1% versus 7.4% from companies without woman at the most senior levels. 
That’s interesting enough, but MSCI also says the research shows that companies with more woman on their boards are less likely to be caught up in corporate scandals and that firms ranked in the bottom quarter in terms of gender diversity were over 20% more likely to get caught up in governance-related issues.  Maybe that’s because not having strong female representation on the board is – by definition – poor governance, and scandalous.   The study also shows that Norway’s leadership in promoting diversity at the board level is bearing fruit, with Noway having the highest female representation at the board level.

Mary Barra Says Even She “Missed” the Importance of Being a Woman



As stunning as this may seem to the rest of us, GMs first female CEO, Marry Barra, says she missed the importance of being a woman early on in her career.  Fortunately for the rest of us, she says she has now come to understand that some of us need role models, and that her leadership helps the rest of us see a path to success.   At April Now, we are definitely thankful for Barra’s leadership.  She is leading one of the largest most important companies in the world, and doing so with aplomb and style.  Thank you Mary for your leadership and for the example you are setting for the rest of us!
