The CCGG Calls Low Board Diversity a Governance Issue

The Canadian Coalition for Good Governance says Canadian companies suffer from low board diversity.   According to their 2015 report, females hold just 17% of TSX 60 board seats, and 12% of board seats at all Canadian public companies.  The CCGG calls the lack female representation on corporate boards a “governance issue”, and then lists some of the many known benefits of diversity, including: (1) Avoiding group think, (2) More effective monitoring of the CEO, (3) Higher performance of complex tasks, and (4) Better corporate performance.  At April Now, we couldn’t agree more.
