- According to global data provider MSCI
firms with “strong female leadership” delivered an average RoE of 10.1% versus
7.4% from companies without woman at the most senior levels.
That’s interesting enough, but MSCI also
says the research shows that companies with more woman on their boards are less
likely to be caught up in corporate scandals and that firms ranked in the bottom
quarter in terms of gender diversity were over 20% more likely to get caught up
in governance-related issues. Maybe
that’s because not having strong female representation on the board is – by
definition – poor governance, and scandalous.
The study also shows that Norway’s leadership in promoting diversity at
the board level is bearing fruit, with Noway having the highest female
representation at the board level.
