CAN WHITMAN MAKE HP THE COMEBACK KID OF SILICON VALLEY?

Wow. Hewlett-Packard’s has fallen fast, and head honcho Meg Whitman says she needs 5 years to seriously turn things around.

HP’s been through the ringer with a dwindled share price, sales drops, mounting debt, botched management, blame games and brain drain since 1990 aka ‘the dawn of its decline’. But all is not lost: leadership could be the real answer to the tech giant’s resurgence. Good start, Meg, with the focus on innovation and “preach(ing) frugality and humility”. We really want to see how she pulls this off; and the fact that she believes this will be “one of the great comeback stories in American business.”?  Love the attitude!

IT’S HERE: MEG WHITMAN’S PLAN TO GET HP BACK ON TRACK

CEO Meg Whitman has revealed the – wait for it – five-year plan to turn around her diminished Hewlett-Packard. And, yes, this is riveting. It reads like the synopsis of a great movie, something like: Can a plummeting tech giant return to its former place as the king of Silicone Valley? We’re going to have to be patient and wait to see what happens, since the first signs of growth are projected for 2015. Good luck Whitman: you’ve got your work cut out for you!
